Living a Healthy Life in Spirit, Soul, and Body

When we talk about Healthy Living, it goes beyond what we typically think of as wellness or fitness. True health encompasses every part of who we are: spirit, soul, and body. Each aspect plays a crucial role in our overall well-being, and when one is out of balance, the rest can be affected.

  1. Spirit
Our spirit is where we receive revelation and hear from God. It’s our direct connection to Him. When we nurture our spirit through prayer, meditation, and time in God’s presence, we become more in tune with His voice, allowing us to walk in alignment with His purpose for us.
  2. Soul
Our soul is made up of our mind, will, and emotions. A healthy soul means that our thoughts, feelings, and decisions are grounded in truth. This is where our beliefs are formed, and what we fill our minds with—whether through reading, reflection, or conversation—has a direct impact on our emotional and mental health. When our soul is nurtured with truth and wisdom, we gain strength and resilience.
  3. Body
Our body is the physical house we walk around in, the temple where the Holy Spirit resides. Just as we care for our spiritual and mental well-being, our bodies deserve intentional care. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what we do on the outside. Healthy eating, regular movement, and rest all play a role in honoring the body God has given us.

Here are three steps to help you start living holistically:

  1. Begin Each Morning with Spiritual Nourishment
Dedicate the first few minutes of each day to connect with God. This could be through a short prayer, meditation on a Bible verse, or even journaling what you hear from Him. Starting your day with this focus helps you tune into God’s voice and align your spirit with His guidance.
  2. Feed Your Soul with Positive Input
Throughout the day, choose content that uplifts and strengthens you. This might mean reading a chapter from an inspiring book, listening to a motivational podcast, or engaging in a conversation that brings you closer to truth. Be mindful of what you consume emotionally and mentally, as it directly impacts your mindset and resilience.
  3. Move and Nourish Your Body
Incorporate healthy choices for your body by planning time for movement—whether it’s a walk, workout, or stretching—and choosing foods that energize and support you. Remember that your body is a gift, designed to carry out God’s work. Treating it well not only boosts your physical health but honors the life He’s entrusted to you.

The key is to recognize that each part—spirit, soul, and body—needs intentional care. We can’t have one part thriving while ignoring the others and expect to live a truly healthy life. True health means listening to God’s voice, feeding our soul with His truth, and treating our bodies as sacred temples. When all three are nurtured, we become whole, able to show up fully for God, ourselves, and others.
